2009 MTV Music Awards

At the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Taylor Swift defeated Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, and Beyonce to take home the trophy for Best Female Video.
As a visibly humble, appreciative Swift took the stage and began her acceptance speech, Kanye West actually grabbed the microphone from her and declared that Beyonce - with "one of the greatest videos of all-time" - deserved to win.
The camera cut to Beyonce in the audience. She was horrified. Kanye (who drank Hennessy on the red carpet) ran away from the stage like a pathetic little bitch; and Taylor was left alone, embarrassed and speechless.
To the crowd's credit, they stood and applauded Swift, but the damage had been done. Later Kanye west apoligized to Taylor and she accepted.

Taylor helps Justin Timberlake in Las Vegas

Remember back when Ellen Degeneres introduced a stunned Taylor Swift to her favorite musical crush, Justin Timberlake? Well, that was so last year. Now it looks like Timberlake and Swift are buds. So much so that she helped him out in Las Vegas over the weekend (Oct. 17) at his second annual Justin Timberlake and Friends Concert. It benefits the Shriners Hospital for Children. When she took the stage, Timberlake told the crowd that there would be "no Kanye-style stage crashing on his watch." Swift did "Forever & Always," "You Belong with Me" and "Love Story." Then after all the artists had taken their turns on stage, it was time for Timberlake. And toward the end of the show, Timberlake reportedly took to the piano to do his "What Goes Around ... Comes Around." Since Swift covers that song during her own performance of "You're Not Sorry," it might've been cool to see the two of them collaborate on that one. Maybe next year.

Taylor Swift got her own signature guitar!

Taylor Swift has landed another major accolade... her own signature guitar. The country sensation has joined Leo Kottke, Doyle Dykes and Dan Crary among the artists who have a signature model built by Taylor Guitars. The Taylor Swift Baby Taylor guitar is a sapele wood instrument with a solid spruce top. The guitar also features the title of her hit album, Fearless, and her signature near the bridge. She says, "For a beginner, finding the right guitar can be intimidating, but this guitar, it's the perfect size. Even if you've been playing for years, it's a great size to travel with." The guitar will become available later this month.

How Exactly Did Taylor Swift Become Famous?

Taylor Swift is a country music singer-songwriter from Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. At an age when most teenagers are only beginning to find their identity and lay plans for the future, there has never been much doubt in Taylor's mind about her calling. Inspired by her maternal grandmother, a professional opera singer, Taylor took up singing early in life.

At the age of ten she began to perform around her hometown, singing at karaoke contests, festivals, and fairs. When she was eleven she sang the national anthem before a Philadelphia 76ers game. By the time she was 12, she had picked up the guitar and began practicing four hours each day, until her fingers started to bleed. To pursue her career in country music, Swift and her family moved near Nashville, Tennessee when she was 13. A showcase at the Nashville's Bluebird Cafe caught the attention of music-industry veteran Scott Borchetta, who had plans to create a new label and decided Swift was one of the first acts he wanted to sign.

In 2006, she had her first hit at the young age of 16, called "Tim McGraw", about a summer love. Since then, she has risen to fame as a successful teenage star and is also an Internet sensation.

Taylor Swift was nominated in 2007 by the Academy of Country Music as best new female vocalist.
